A Design Portfolio
Love what you do, and do it well.
This is the online portfolio of designer Michael Kühl. I tackle an extensive variety of tasks in the process of creating digital products that make a positive impact. From User experience to UI design, concept development, usability, interaction design, wireframing, prototyping, UX-research and the facilitation of workshops.
The site is a display of my creative work and a showcase of selected works in the domain of digital design, displaying a broad variety of disciplines in the agile process.
I study and shape Digital Experiences
I have a great hunger for new technological advances that aid and give people a great experience and I make a virtue of keeping myself updated on this front. In addition, the involvement shaping the architecture and the journey around a digital user experience and solution thrills me. The process of shaping these experiences entices me, alongside setting a direction for this and closely following it from idea to implementation.
Especially when it comes to the user-centered perspective in the conceptualization, externalization and development of a solution and the design of a user-friendly, enhancing and satisfying experience in the use.
Mastering the user centered design process. Focusing on creating successful user experiences through research, feedback, analysis testing and best practices.
Turning wireframes/prototypes into visual designs that are user friendly. Relying on a keen understanding of graphical elements, style guides and design systems.
Conducting userdata- and task analysis. Converging these data insights and research into meaningful recommendations and actionable results.
Process maps and specifications to describe intended user experience. Use of user personas and scenarios to develop relevant process and user flow models.
Promotion of brands, products or services through platforms. Email-marketing, social media management, SEO/SEM and advertising.
Drawing upon user data and research to generate interaction concepts that enable fluid, seamless and engaging experiences for the users.
A tablet and smartphone solution for private economy
Triangle is a tablet and smartphone application prototype designed to help managing personal budgets. The program consists of a vizualization based on data extracted from your daily receipts. The data is subsequently converted into large triangles each representing every day’s expenses. The sizes of the triangles are shaped after the amount that is spent that particular day. Within these larger triangles one hundred smaller triangles are placed each representing 1 percent of a days overall expenses. The smaller triangles will at the end of day be categorized in different colors according to the type of products that is purchased that day. This means that the Triangle Program provides several supportive tools to help you manage your budget: • Visual and simple overview on the amount of your everyday spendings • Which types of products are mostly purchased • The products relation to a days overall spendings • Opportunity to compare day-to-day spendings

It is a dynamic website and is therefore written in HTML, CSS, JAVA and JSP. The webshop retrieves information from a database and therefore SQL code has been used as well. The webshop is not available to the public yet.
Sometimes I like to escape reality and all the concerns of living IRL. Therefore, I sometimes dabble in designing and constructing Virtual Reality spaces. You can check some of them out below if you want to. Accessible both on desktop (WebVR), where you can move around with WASD keys and your mouse and explore. Or you can utilize a VR headset like cardboard etc. for smartphones to get a more immersive experience.
Development of a fully responsive site for Changing Stories which is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to bringing high-quality education to students in the Nepalese public school system. My tasks entail a trifecta within webdevelopment:
- User Experience design
- User Interface development
- Graphic design
I my spare time I dabble in print designs of different sorts. Something to showcase people various interests and style in their own house decor.
Head over heals in love with designing UX/UI.
I'm Michael, Creative Technologist and Digital Designer, cand.it, based in Aarhus, Denmark. I embrace knowledge, empathy and passion to create digital products. I express my creative visions ranging from product design to the creation of user experience up to development and delivery. With a Master's degree in Digital Design from Aarhus University, I have gained a larger sense for the relationship between people, technology and design.
"To design is much less than simply to assemble, to order, or even to edit; it is to add value and meaning, to illuminate, to simplify, to clarify, to dignify, to dramatize, to persuade, and perhaps even to amuse."
"Design is an opportunity to continue telling the story, not just to sum everything up."
"The less explaining, the better the design."
"There is no design without discipline. There is no discipline without intelligence."
